History

THE LARSEN COMPANIES - ESTABLISHED 1946

CELEBRATING 60 + YEARS OF TRANSPORTATION EXCELLENCE

With an entrepreneurial spirit and an eye toward the future, Gordon Larsen, Sr. began the Larsen Companies with vision and one "Pink" truck in 1946. As the fleet grew, Gordon wisely changed the vehicles to Larsen green! When Gordon decided to branch out into other areas of interest (real estate and banking), he left the business in the capable hands of Gordon Larsen, Jr., Dane Larsen and Eugene Masella, while continuing to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Together, Dane, Gordie and Geno continued to grow the business focusing on the area within a fifty mile radius of Bensenville. Larsen Leasing Limited was started in 1972 to provide vehicles for the Larsen Companies, as well as full service leasing and maintenance for outside customers. In 1987, Larsen opened Tri Air Transportation, adding additional pick-up and delivery business. Dane became the President of the Larsen Companies in October, 1988. The addition of Midwest Motor Express, as their local agent, in early 1990, added many employees to the company with additional drivers, dock men and evening administrative staff. Still growing, Tri Air added Dedicated Contract Carriage in 1998. The latest addition came in 2004, when ATC Trucking, Inc. came on board with air and ocean freight services! Even with the unexpected loss of Gordon, Sr. in 2003 and Gordon, Jr. in 2004, the Larsen Companies continue to grow as a testament to the vision and foundation that the companies were built on in 1946. So, sixty plus years later, the single "Pink" truck transportation pick up and delivery company is still going strong with an expanded fleet in excess of one hundred 150 vehicles and three 3 separate operating companies specializing in all phases of transportation employing over one hundred full time employees!
